Décor Social Hub of the House with Living Room Furniture

It is not without reason that the living room has been given its current name; it does happen to be the most lived room in the house, sometimes even more so than the bedroom.  A living room is where everyone naturally gravitates towards which is why it is also often called the social hub of the house. If the kitchen is where the family meets for dinner, it is the living room where meals usually end up being eaten while cheering our favorite team towards a win or indulging in a weekend binge of movies.

But what sets the living room apart from all the other rooms in the house is the fact that it serves as the place for entertaining guests. Unless you have two separate living rooms, one for the family to relax in and another formal one for entertaining guests, a living room needs to be a clever blend of both formal and causal elements to serve both purposes with élan.  Every element of décor including the living room furniture, lights and accessories need to blend in to create a décor that is elegant and classy while also being warm and inviting.

The biggest decision while decorating a home revolves around living room furniture. It is important to keep the shape and size of the room in mind while shopping for living room furniture. Every piece of furniture should conform to a particular scale to ensure uniformity in décor. While most people end up making the right decisions regarding the seating arrangement, whether it is a section sofa, couch or even an ottoman, it is in the smaller living room furniture items like side tables or cocktail tables that they tend to go wrong. Attention to detail is important when you are decorating the living room both for family entertainment as well as for entertaining guests. Even the tables whether it is the coffee table, cocktail table or side tables need to blend in with other elements of décor so as not to look out of place in the overall décor of the room.

It is possible to have more than one seating arrangement if your living room is large enough to accommodate it. A smaller seating arrangement with a love couch or two lounge chairs with a table in between allows for relaxed private conversations while the larger space can come in handy when you are entertaining more people.

Whichever way you choose to arrange your living room furniture, ensure it is eclectic enough to allow for entertaining both small and large groups of people.
